self-seed is a planting design studio working across Manchester and the North West. We offer planting design and consultation services for private gardens and public spaces, from concept to delivery.

Process

Plants and people first.

  • We begin by understanding the site, analysing the needs of the space and the factors that will determine what we plant where.

    We work collaboratively with garden designers, architects, landscape architects, developers or private homeowners on this assessment, before delivering any planting recommendations.

  • At the design stage, we compose a bespoke planting design based on the site and the brief. This will embody our own style of naturalistic planting, and use a combination of tress, shrubs and perennials that we believe will thrive in the space.

    Designs include a readymade planting plan, plant schedule and detailed specification, including plant groupings and planting instructions.

  • Planting plans are designed to be delivered to contractors and landscapers so that they can work from them independently. However, depending on the size of a project, we can also source plants, set out and plant.

    Whether we’re delivering a plan or involved in setting out and planting, we always remain as consultants on each project to ensure our planted vision is realised.
